Description
The Army Distinguished Service Medal was established by Presidential Order on January 2, 1918 and confirmed by Congress on July 9, 1918. Current regulations provide for the medal being awarded to any person who, while serving in any capacity with the United States Army, shall distinguish themselves by exceptionally meritorious service to the government on a duty of great responsibility.
