Description
Reddick Militaria's reproduction US Vietnam Military Service Watch, also known as "The Grunt", will make a great addition to your Vietnam impression or to use as an everyday watch and are furnished with a flat brown presentation box with silver text.
These copies of the 1966 Benrus DTU-2A/P are fantastic reproductions! These were among the first watches to be issued under the new MIL-W-3818B standard the US government called for. They asked for "an accurate, disposable, and non-maintainable watch, in either plastic or metal, to be issued to infantry and other ground troops during the Vietnam War".
Each watch features:
- A black dial with white numerals and indices. Battery-powered Quartz movement.
- An inner track for 24-hour readings. Originally the hands and numerals would have been painted with luminous, radioactive tritium. However, these reproductions use more modern, safe luminous alternatives for easy reading in low light conditions.
- A 25cm olive green wrist strap, which is held in place by spring bars.
- The watch face encased in a burnished grey metal housing.
- A snap-off back casing. It measures 32mm across, not including the crown.
- The reverse is stamped with a serial number as well as the date, ‘AUG 1966’.
- Each watch has a maximum wrist size of 23cm.
