High Seas Fleet Badge - Kriegsmarine WWII

Our standard quality High Seas Fleet Badge is a nice copy of the unmarked, late war type, with a round, vertical pin attachment. While the maker of this type badge is unknown, it features the wreath and eagle in a matte gold finish, with the battleship in antique, blackened silver.

"The Fleet War Badge (Das Flotten-Kriegsabzeichen) - In recognition of the naval actions of the German battleships and cruisers in the war against England in all oceans of the world and far from home and causing large tonnage losses of enemy vessels and reducing the size of England's blockade. The Navy Commander-in-Chief established the Fleet War Badge on 30 April 1941. Designed by Adolf Bock, Berlin.

"The badge can be awarded to crews (including those killed in action and other qualified personnel of the battleships and cruisers as well as other naval ships serving in the combat areas, which up until this time had no distinctive naval war badge. The awards were given for the naval personnel serving on the battleships and cruisers through the commander of the task force. For all other naval personnel, the badge will be awarded through the naval headquarters by, at least, a Commodore."

"Criteria for receiving the Fleet War Badge is proof of distinction and good conduct, and confirmed active duty on one or more war cruisers for at least 12 weeks. Other qualifications are as follows: 1. when the mission was especially effective and the individual displayed leadership or was killed in action. 2. survivors of ships sunk through enemy action or special circumstances of being wounded in action. 3. for participation in the two engagements by Iceland ("Rawalpindi") and Jan Mayen."
