Description
Now available in nickel silver is this fine quality, die-struck version of the WWI 1914 Iron Cross First Class from Reddick Militaria. The details are excellent and it has the desirable "vaulted" shape with a wide, flat "coke bottle" style pin and correct type hinge and catch.
The Iron Cross was first instituted by Prussia in 1813 and 1870. It was later revised during World War I to include the 1914 date and again by the Third Reich, adding the swastika along with the 1939 date. After World War 2, a de-nazified "1957" version without the swastika but retaining the 1939 date was created by the Federal Republic of Germany for wear by veterans. Official production of these badges ceased in 1986.
We also carry two fine quality 1939 First Class Iron Cross models. One is vaulted, with the desirable screwback and the other is a pinback version with the maker mark "50".
