Description
The German WW1 1914 Grand Cross of the Iron Cross from Reddick Militaria is the highest award of the Iron Cross and was designed for award to the victorius generals of the Prussian Army and its allies. The first Grand Cross was instituted 1870 for the same purpose and was the highest (normally awarded) class of the Iron Cross. The Iron Cross was founded in 1813, and renewed in 1870 for the Franco-Prussian War, and again in 1914 for World War I. It was worn suspended around the neck from a black ribbon with white bordering stripes.
