Description
FLYING TIGER PATCH
Shortly after the Japanese attacked China in July 1937, and before the United States officially entered the war with Japan, Americans were fighting the Japanese in China. They were on hand as observers, advisers, and even recruiters for foreign air forces. The United States was neutral at this time, so extreme caution was used in their activities.
This high-quality machine-embroidered patch was reproduced from historic originals worn by members of this famous American Volunteer Group, popularly known as the Flying Tigers due to the distinctive shark's mouth paint scheme on their aircraft.
The Flying Tigers did not see combat until December 18, 1941 and disbanded on July 4, 1942, with many original members returning to their original military service.
