Frontkjemper, Norwegian SS Front Fighters Badge with safety pin back.
Our authentic pins and badges feature high quality enameling and correctly style pin backs, and many have correct maker marks or Ges. Gesch. on the reverse.
The Norwegian "Frontkjemper" (Front-Fighter) badge was instituted in October 1943, and awarded for bravery to Waffen-SS Norwegian legionnaires who saw action on the Eastern Front from 1941 to 1945. The badge was made by Holmsen, an Oslo firm and was issued in only silver class.
The badge depicts a Nordic warrior holding a shield and drawn sword, and standing in an archway, bearing the lettering "FRONT KJEMPER" (Front Fighter) in pseudo runic script. There are two types of Front-Fighters badges: a high quality silver version with sharp details and the early type badge has a twisted "M" in "frontkjeMper"; later these badges had the normal "M" shape.
