Japanese Rising Sun Flag, 3' x 5', Printed Cotton, Double sided

The Japanese "Rising Sun" Flag from Reddick Miitaria is 3' x 5' and screen printed on woven cotton fabric, like the originals. It features a canvas binding along the rope edge, with extra, reinforced stitching on the other three sides. These are high quality flags and very good copies of the originals, with correct proportions and nice details. Dimensions: 3 x 5 feet

The "Rising Sun" flag is a red sun disc on a white background with 16 red rays. Adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1870, it is a symbol of Japan, "the Land of the Rising Sun". However, it is highly controversial, particularly in parts of East Asia, because of its association with Japanese imperialism and war crimes committed during WWII. It is still used today as the naval ensign for the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and a modified version is used for the ground forces.
