Description
The Hitler Youth Gausieger Badge was awarded to victor or winner (sieger) of the Gau (State or District) Level national trade competition and the Reichssieger Badge was awarded to the winner of the National Level competition. The Reichsberufswettkampf (National Trade Competition) was an annual vocational competition held in Nazi Germany as part of the much larger program of Gleichschaltung (Synchronization) in German society. The badge features 3-piece construction with a die struck base with an antique silver wash. The obverse is the spreadwinged German national eagle clutching a cogwheel, with the Hitler Youth diamond badge in red, white & black enamel superimposted above it. This is atop an enamel cream white disc with lettering which reads "GAUSIEGER - 1936 (or the approriate date)" (State Winner 1936 or 1940) and is surrounded by a laurel leaf and berry wreath. the "REICHSSIEGER - 1936" (National Winner 1936) features a bright gold wash finish. The reverse of these badges is solid, and maker marked "A.G.THAM, GABLONZʌN", which was an original maker of these badges. The pin is usually round or coke bottle shaped and these 3 badges exhibit both types. The hinge and carch are typical of German badges of this period, as shown in the photos.
These are samples from one of our early offerings, and they have not been available in approximately 20 years. They are very high quality, 2-piece badges with hard enamel, and we are offering them at 33% below their original price. These are the last of these badges that we will have.
